TORONTO, ONTARIO – Toronto based gotoClassroom is giving out its Learning Management System (LMS) to any education institution across the Globe completely FREE with no strings attached. With this new pilot program, gotoClassroom enables schools to redirect their current investment in the LMS towards other tools. This, in turn, will enrich the student learning experience and make the teacher experience much less stressful by eliminating out of date learning technology.

gotoClassroom’s LMS platform is built from the ground up to improve the conversation between everyone in the classroom. The platform is rich with student engaging features such as live discussion boards, access to homework and quizzes from any electronic device, an automated system to remind student of important dates from due dates to college application deadlines. For teachers, there are features such as tools to organize class materials, discussion boards, assignment and collection of homework and quizzes from any electronic device, a class attendance tool, class calendar and yearbook to stay connected with students after the term/semester is over. In addition, gotoClassroom’s LMS allows parents and guardians to get involved with their child’s learning process and stay up-to-date with their activity in and outside the classroom.

What do you need to get the LMS up and running on your school’s Server? Here are things you will need:

• Either a dedicated or a cloud-based server with a minimum of 2GB of RAM
• Website domain or subdomain (e.g., www.yourdomain.com)
• Amazon S3 (register with Amazon Cloud service in less than 5 minutes)
• Amazon SES (register with Amazon Cloud service in less than 5 minutes)
• 1 or 2 people with minimum computer knowledge

Do you need a software expert for the deployment and maintenance of the LMS? The answer is a big NO. One or two people with minimum computer knowledge could easily do the job. Our deployment script will walk with LMS administrator step-by-step, and advise them on when to provide Website Domain or Subdomain, Amazon S3, and Amazon SES secret access key etc.

School IT administrators are invited to test out real and live gotoClassroom’s LMS, currently hosted on gotoClassroom’s Server at http://www.gotoclassroom.org to explore what our LMS has to offer. This includes previews into the classroom interface and a preview of the instructor/student engagements. To use the gotoClassroom’s LMS, administers are required to fill out a registration form with different user roles. They will be able to experience the LMS themselves right after the sign-up process.
