Sheridan College has opened it’s annual call for Capstone Projects which will be offered in the Fall semester (September – December 2015). Students and faculty at Sheridan College look for opportunities to provide creative solutions/prototypes for real industrial problems/products.

Following is a Q/A section that may answer some of your questions regarding the procedure. For further information please do not hesitate to contact us.
1. What type of project is preferred?
Prototype development, automation systems, work stations, test apparatus, tool design, product redesign or enhancement, test, robotic stations, and etc.
2. What is the student’s background?
Capstone course will be offered to the students in Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical disciplines in their sixth semester. A team of 3-4 students preferably from both disciplines work on a project.
3. What is the time line of the project?
Each project should be completed in 14 weeks based on the following milestones:
Week 3: Proposal and time schedule
Week 5: Assembly drawings and Bill of material
Week 8: Fabrication begins
Week 12: Formal presentation
Week 14: Project showcase
4. What is the expectation from industry?
Mentorship and guidance, response to technical questions, providing some material and required parts for the project, and attendance in formal presentation and project showcase.
5. What type of machinery/technologies is available at Sheridan?
3D printing machines, multi-axis robots, water jet cutter, CNC and traditional metal working machinery, material testing, etc.
