Opportunity Alert: Call for Sheridan College Capstone Projects

Sheridan New Logo 300x86, Altitude AcceleratorSheridan College has opened the annual call for its Capstone course which will be offered in summer and fall semesters (May  to December 2016, 8 months). Our students and faculties look for opportunities to provide creative solutions/prototypes for real industrial problems/products.

If your company is interested to engage in such a practice where it’s expected that both the industry partner and students will benefit from the outcome, please submit a brief description of project(s) (and pictures if available), preferably before April  15 by email to:

Following is a Q/A section that may answer some of your questions regarding the procedure. For further information please do not hesitate to contact us.

  1. What type of project is preferred?

Prototype development  including design and fabrication, tool design, product redesign or enhancement, consumer/household prototypes, and etc.

  1. What is the student’s background?

Capstone course will be offered to the students in Mechanical Design disciplines in their fifth and sixth semester. A team of 2-3 students work on a project.

  1. What is the time line of the project?

The first phase “Design” will be completed in the summer Semester (May-August) and the second phase “Fabrication” will be during their sixth semester (September-December)

  1. What is the expectation from industry?

Mentorship and guidance, response to technical questions, providing some material and required parts for the project, and attendance in formal presentation and project showcase.

  1. What type of machinery/technologies is available at Sheridan?

3D printing machines,  water jet cutter, CNC and traditional metal working machinery, material testing, etc.
