Altitude Accelerator is pleased to announce that the winner of the 2013-2014 Business Uncovered program is Team “Gurus” from the University of Toronto at Mississauga (UTM) School of Continuing Studies. This innovative program provides valuable knowledge and credentials for the students to open up new career paths and to inspire creative curiosity.

Business Uncovered was created through a partnership between the Altitude Accelerator and NRC-IRAP. This experiential learning program matched teams of students and internationally trained professionals with Canada’s leading start-ups to solve a real business problem in four short months.

Congratulations to Atriya Jaffer, Kirk McLaughlin, Octavian Militaru, Nickeisha Minto, and Simona Pop, who were part of the winning  team, “Gurus.”  They successfully pitched a new product innovation to their client company, FastRack. For their outstanding work, Team “Gurus” received a Certificate of Achievement and a $1000 cash prize.

The co-founders of FastRack, Mitchell Lesbirel and Casey Binkley, have confirmed that they will be developing a modified version of the product concept in the future. FastRack is a company that works with the Altitude Accelerator who has developed is a racking system for handling empty bottles, ideal for: Homebrewers- Winemakers- Cottages & House Parties- Bars- Restaurants.

Thanks to all of the participating organizations, including UTM, Sheridan College and the Newcomer Centre of Peel. Special thanks go out to Dr. Jayson Parker, Business Uncovered Program Administrator, as well as the academic course coordinators.
