The Healthcare Ecosphere:
A Pilot Project to Commercialize Innovative Medical Technology
CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
As announced in June at the MedEdge Summit, the Healthcare Ecosphere (represented by the partnership amongst ventureLAB, Southlake Regional Health Centre, and Innovation York) will be holding a follow-on SME event scheduled for late October. Like the inaugural invitation-only gathering that took place in January, this is a new Call for Expressions of Interest.
With the success of the prior event, that not only saw the creation of five hospital guided projects for breakthrough technologies, but significant advancements by almost all of the twelve other SMEs. For example, one has a major project underway, funded by OCE, at York University, while two others have gone on to win countless awards and commercial commitments.
Our goal is to ensure the new Call reaches as broad a market as possible for SMEs that are at least at Technology Readiness Level 7 (TRL-7) and meet one or more of the defined Southlake priorities listed below:
- Chronic disease management
- In-home remote monitoring devices/technology
- Health informatics and analytics
- Health systems and process re-engineering
- Imaging
- Mobile applications

The objective of the call is to select a final group of 20 SMEs to attend the event. At the event they will be able to participate in the further selection process that will be used to determine how qualified innovations can be accelerated towards commercial success.

All approved attendees will be notified by e-mail by October 15th, 2013.
