TAP into Global Trade – New Trade Accelerator Program (TAP GTA)

TAP into Global Trade!

City regions are increasingly defining the global economy as they become the epicentres of innovation, business activity and growth, and exchanges of people, ideas, goods, and services. Although the Toronto region continues to rank high on the list of top performers world-wide, competition is intense and our global competitors are moving ahead with ambitious plans to become more productive, prosperous and globally connected.

Currently only 5% of export ready Canadian companies are trading globally. To drive our economy forward, Toronto region businesses must think and act globally.

TAP GTA Program

The Toronto Board of Trade has developed a new, collaborative, private sector led global Trade Accelerator Program, called TAP GTA.

This multi-year program, supported by the rich expertise of the Board’s large Member companies and Canada’s trade and investment promotion organizations, will focus on helping Toronto region’s businesses:

  • Navigate the global trade ecosystem
  • Accelerate their export readiness
  • Expand their global trade footprint
  • Learn about best global trade practices
  • Gain resources and market expertise to pursue global trade opportunities

Export Strategy

The Board will release an export strategy outlining the readiness, challenges and export enablers for Toronto region businesses.

TAP GTA Trade Summit

The program will kick off with a one-day Trade Summit, sponsored by JP Morgan Chase, which will be held on May 12, 2015. Keynote presentations by industry and government leaders along with facilitated breakout sessions will give attendees insider access to expert trade knowledge, while providing a wonderful introduction to this new and exciting program.
