For Investors

  • A special purpose vehicle (SPV) is also known as a Special Purpose Entity (SPE). An SPV is a limited partnership or corporation created for investment into a project. 
  • Summit Edge SPV was created specifically by Altitude Accelerator and Preference Capital to pool investor capital into a separate entity to invest in startup companies. 

The companies making applications to the fund are high-risk, and early-stage Capital investment may be lost. Capital returns are not guaranteed. 

  • Proposed term of five years is typical for venture investing 
  • The minimum capital has been lowered. For this SPV, there is a one-time investment of a minimum of CAD$10,000. 
  • Western Greater Toronto Golden Horseshoe includes business owners registered in Ontario and operating in Western Toronto, Brampton, Burlington, Caledon, Guelph, Halton Hills, Hamilton, Milton, Mississauga, Niagara, Oakville and Orangeville
  • Accredited investors  
    • A minimum of $1,000,000 in net financial assets either alone or with a spouse (excluding all real estate and other liabilities) . 
    • Have had for the past two years and a current ongoing salary of over CAD $200,000 alone, or CAD $300,000 when combined with a spouse.  
    • A minimum of $5,000,000 in assets either alone or with a spouse.  
  • Self-Certified Investor annual investment limit is capped at $30,000 and must meet at least one of the following criteria:
    • Hold a professional designation such as CFA, CPA, CIM, or Financial Planner Designation.
    • Practice law in the Securities and M&A sector.
    • Have an MBA with a focus on Finance.
    • Possess an undergraduate degree in finance, business, or commerce.
    • Have management, policy-making, engineering, product, or other relevant operational experience in an industry or sector similar to the startup company.

  • Proposed investment in 3 companies.  Final placement will be determined by the investor group. 
  • All applications will go through a selection process. The initial qualification round will be conducted by Altitude Accelerator. All candidates who have applied will be contacted by Altitude Accelerator after the application close date 
  • Yes, companies are encouraged to apply for Altitude Programs: Investor Readiness or Market Readiness. We will reach out to you once your application has been completed. Apply online. 

The program will be delivered through a series of virtual workshops on financial modelling, capital raising, cap table, valuation, governance, dilution, investor relations, data room and due diligence.
