At GreenCentre Canada, a national Centre of Excellence for Commercialization and Research and member of the Ontario Network of Excellence, we take a “hands on” approach to the commercialization of Green Chemistry innovations. Innovation, for it to improve the environment and our quality of life, must be mobilized into the market place. This is why we started the SME Commercialization Fund (SCF).
Our SCF program provides funding, specialized services, infrastructure and expertise to Ontario-based, chemistry-driven startup companies or small and medium enterprises (SME) that are looking to develop and commercialize products and processes that use less energy, fewer resources and produce less waste. Already, we’ve funded and begun partnerships with several companies looking to commercialize their green innovations.
Fortalesa Technologies, a start-up company based on a technology developed at McMaster University, has been awarded $100,000 from GreenCentre’s SCF program. The grant will help Fortalesa to commercialize their proprietary adhesive technology, which can be used in a variety of applications ranging from consumer goods to automotive. Fortalesa and GreenCentre will work together to optimize formulations and process parameters, and prepare test quantities of promising commercial prototypes for customer validation.
Win Chemicals, based in Burlington, Ontario, has also been awarded with a SCF grant in the amount of $62,500. Offering a wide range of raw materials for product development, Win Chemicals has been awarded the funds from GreenCentre for a project designed to commercialize a green, high performance surfactant technology.
If you are an Ontario based, chemistry-driven startup company or SME, you might be eligible for up to $150,000 from GreenCentre Canada’s SME Commercialization Fund (SCF). Whether you are a start-up or an established medium sized enterprise, GreenCentre opens its arms to clean and innovative chemistry-based technologies.
