Team Formation

As a successful applicant, you will be invited to an event at York University’s Schulich School of Business, where you will meet top MBA students that want to participate in this competition and help your company craft an outstanding plan to commercialize your technology. You will form a team, which will begin working on the first phase of the competition – the Executive Summary.

Commercialization Seminar

You will be invited to attend a Seminar produced by Schulich School of Business, which includes faculty and guest speakers. The Seminar covers the steps for successfully launching a technology company in the healthcare and biotechnology sector.

Executive Summary

You and your team will then organize meetings to familiarize everyone with your technology and its market opportunities, and discuss routes to commercial success. You will produce an executive summary of your business, its market potential, and your commercial plan.
These executive summaries will be judged for commercial feasibility and 10 semi-finalist teams will be selected to produce a complete commercialization plan.

Expert Mentors

Each team will be assigned a Mentor with extensive experience in commercializing technology. The Mentor will advise the team on preparing a commercialization plan.

Commercialization Plan

Next, each team will submit a commercialization plan, which will be judged for commercial feasibility, growth potential, and risk. While only three teams will proceed to the final presentations, all teams that produce plans will gain business exposure at the final event.

Big Event

Finally the big day. Three teams on stage, each already a winner. Each making their final presentation on their business, and competing for the grand prize. Around the auditorium, all 10 teams that reached the commercialization plan stage will have a table-top display to showcase their technology to the many visiting entrepreneurs, experts, influencers and investors attending the event.
