Press Release: Building the IT Community in Peel Region

Mississauga, ON – Aug 29, 2012 – The Altitude Accelerator is proud to introduce our ICT community building initiative. This initiative will help build community connections to assist entrepreneurs with beta customers, integrators and potential investors.

To execute this project, RIC welcomes our new Entrepreneur-in-Residence, John Macdonald. John’s expertise lies in software development. His specific areas of expertise include, attracting talent and building teams, market assessment, business strategy, planning & operations and sales management & channel development. He is also a part-time instructor at the Schulich School of Business (MBA) and a board member on the school’s Global Leadership Program.

John’s role at the Altitude Accelerator is to guide, connect and develop the network of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) entrepreneurs within the Peel Region.

Altitude Accelerator will launch a Virtual Software Advisory Group for start-up entrepreneurs.  The Virtual Software Advisory Group will meet once a month at the Altitude Accelerator and representation will include volunteer expertise in:

  • Software
  • Hardware
  • Marketing
  • Development
  • Sales
  • Strategy

“In launching this initiative, I am excited to help early stage technology firms get to revenue faster and assist mid-sized firms build operational capability and sustain growth,” says John MacDonald, RIC’s new EIR and IT specialist.

We encourage all early stage ICT entrepreneurs to access this service. As an added bonus, we are organizing several events around ICT and entrepreneurship including a Growing Your Business: Breakfast with the Experts session on Software as a Service.
