The Ontario Genomics Institute is pleased to announce that Genome Canada has launched a new funding program called the Genomics Application Partnership Program (GAPP). With this program, Genome Canada aims to fund applied research projects that have defined end user partners and will have socioeconomic benefit to Canada. In particular, projects must demonstrate a clear partnership between the industry/end user partner and the academic researcher(s).
A brief description of the project requirements is given below. Full details and timelines can be found here:
- There is up to $30 million available for this competition from Genome Canada.
- Genome Canada requires that at least two thirds of the requested funding for eligible costs be obtained through co-funding from other sources, with at least one third from the industry or end user partner.
- Genome Canada will invest a minimum of $100,000 and a maximum of $2 million in an individual funded project (i.e., with the maximum investment from Genome Canada, plus the required co-funding, a total investment of $6 million per project is possible).
- Successful individual projects will be awarded funding for a term of up to three years.
