Jean-René Halde, CEO of BDC, Delivers Keynote “Competitiveness Starts with Innovative Entrepreneurs”

Part of BDC’s Small Business Week Oct 16-22
Panel Discussion Moderated by John Switzer, RIC Chair.

Jean-René Halde, president and CEO of the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), says competitiveness starts with entrepreneurs. “They’re ambitious for their firms. And they define innovation broadly – creative, incremental improvements of many kinds that can take many forms: using a new technology, or growing a new business from an improvement to an existing product.”

“They make innovation the centrepiece of their strategic plans, and base their plans on a keen sense of customer demand. They then invest in innovation – doing it by taking calculated risks, adapting and learning from mistakes,” explains Mr. Halde.

Come be inspired by the stories or real BDC clients who succeeded, and benefit from learning about the three essential steps they used to succeed: decide to make innovation their strategy, discover the market demand and do it.
