SMART Prosperity Now is administered by Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters and funded by Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario. The partnership provides $18.9 million in funding to support up to 500 SMEs in Southern Ontario adopt new technologies, enhance productivity improvements, and expand export sales

Criteria:
To be eligible for SMART Prosperity Now funding, applicants must be small to mid size manufacturers in Southern Ontario with 15 – 1000 full time employees and looking to invest in product/process improvements that will develop and expand your export opportunities and global competitiveness.

Keys areas of consideration for funding include investments in:
– Trade shows
– New product development
– New technology / patents
– Commercialization
– Purchases of new or upgraded equipment and technology
– Productivity improvement that demonstrate a direct link to export growth opportunities

SMART is still accepting applications but time is of the essence.

The final SMART event will be held on February 14, 2013 at the Mississauga Convention Centre from 8AM – 3:30PM. This will be the last chance to hear the program requirements and talk to key people in the export trade industry. To register for this event, click here.

Application intake will continue until March 31, 2013 but it’s best to get projects in, reviewed and approved early, to ensure applicants have enough time to complete their projects before the deadline of September 30, 2013. Final reporting of project benefits is due by December 31, 2013.
