Searching For Coworking Spaces 1024x512, Altitude Accelerator

So you’re looking for a coworking space, make sure you consider the following items:

1. Location

How easy is it to get there?  Is it close to transit?  Is parking available?  If not, where is the nearest parking lot and what is the rate?  For those looking in the Toronto area, I’ve compiled a handy map of all the spaces here.  For parking lots, check out this handy website. Finally, a global map of spaces is here.

2. Price

How much does it cost?  Is the pricing flexible?  Some coworking spaces have more options when it comes to memberships, others offer only monthly plans.  Individual plans tend to be around $200-$500/month.

3. Amenities

What sort of things are you getting?  The level and quality runs the full spectrum.  Some points to keep in mind:

  • Furnishings
  • Internet connection speed
  • Coffee
  • Boardrooms
  • Lounges
  • Ping Pong…

4. Size

How much room do you need?  Is it just yourself or do you have a team that you would like to accommodate?  Is there room to expand?  Is there an event space available if needed?

5. Vibe

What type of space are you looking for?  Do you want a location and prestigious address to impress clients?  Are you looking for a dynamic and creative environment?  All of the above?  Each coworking space is unique and has a unique flavor.  Some lean more toward a corporate and formal environment.  Others are more relaxed and easy going.  Think office share vs coworking space.

Are you a freelancer or someone who works from home?  Tired of being isolated and missing the company of people?  Check out your local Coworking space!

Tim Chung is the inventor Lift Top “The Portable Sit-stand Solution”.  He is currently touring the coworking spaces in Toronto to help promote his upcoming Kickstarter campaign this September.
