Bio-Organic Catalyst of Canada

The Bio-Organic Catalyst of Canada (BOCC) was established in 2007 by Peter Sirek and Jennifer Fraser in order to provide advanced solutions for energy conservation and renewable energy improvements in waste water. Their aim was to reduce both operating costs and the environmental footprint from waste processing.

The BOCC utilises a liquid organic catalyst to reduce sludge volume, optimize energy production from organic waste and produce high quality recycled water. In addition, the BOCC also has a product and dispensing system that eliminates odours. Their efforts have helped to turn Canada’s biomass waste into a key source of green, renewable energy.

The BOCC has relied on the Altitude Accelerator for management and financial strength during their developmental process. Peter Sirek, says that the Altitude Accelerator has played an invaluable role insupporting and guiding BOCC during its inception by recommending greater depth of talent in these areas.

“The Altitude Accelerator has been instrumental in helping BOCC become a client of OCETA and MaRS, where the combined support has resulted in expanded networking; strategic planning; field test funding; management team expansion to include senior experience in sales, marketing and finance; and timely ongoing advice received at monthly breakfast sessions and industry conferences,” said Sirek.

RIC’s Entrepreneur-in-Residence, James Sbrolla, has been working closely with the BOCC and has steered them towards executing specific funding and marketing goals as well concrete commercialization opportunities.

Plans for future innovations at the BOCC include membrane filtration improvement for waste water treatment facilities as well as pulp and paper process water treatment.
