The 13th Annual RE$EARCH MONEY Conference

Budget 2014: Re-balancing Innovation Support Programs

22-23 April 2014
National Arts Centre, Ottawa

Federal Budget 2014 and the previous two budgets have been slowly shifting the innovation policy landscape in Canada. If you have something to say or want to learn more about the Canadian Government’s approach to supporting (or not supporting) innovation and R&D, then you need to be at the 13th Annual RE$EARCH MONEY Conference.

Topics being addressed include: indirect and direct support of firms; supporting basic and applied research in academia; academic-industrial research collaboration; are small firms the future hope for Canada’s economy; progress being made with the federal government’s new VC fund and its support for accelerators. Smaller breakout sessions will dig deeper into how ICT and mobile are revolutionizing innovation; creating new industries based on genomics and quantum computing; new sources of funding such as crowdfunding and impact investing; and implications of patient-orientation health research.

Join in the conversation with leading specialists including John Baker (President and CEO, Desire2Learn), Richard Hawkins (former Canada Research Chair in Science, Technology and Innovation Policy), Ted Hewitt (Executive Vice-President, SSHRC), Pierre Meulien (President and CEO, Genome Canada), Jerome Ncyz (Executive Vice President, Subordinate Financing and Venture Capital, BDC) and Dr. You-Zhi Tang (Chairman and CEO, Canada Cleantech Capital).
